The Board Team of 7Türme+

Three people, three biographies – one shared conviction:
To our foundation’s board, the seven towers of Lübeck are so much more than just historical buildings.

Annegret Röther

For Annegret Röther, it is a great joy to take on responsibility for the 7Türme+ Foundation and, in doing so, help bring the obligation of preserving World Heritage closer to all citizens. She is convinced: the preservation of Lübeck’s seven Old Town churches should not be the church’s task alone—it is a shared responsibility that concerns everyone.

A native of Baden-Württemberg, she has lived in Lübeck since 2001 and has long since developed a deep connection to the city and its historic architecture. A graduate in economics, certified tax advisor, and partner at the auditing firm BDO AG, she advises nonprofit organizations among others—bringing valuable expertise and experience to her work with the foundation.

Heike Schumacher

Heike Schumacher is a born-and-bred Lübeck native through and through. For many years, she has been actively involved in social and church-related volunteer work—among other things, as a member of the parish council of St. Mary’s Church in Lübeck.

With more than 40 years of professional experience in finance and insurance, she knows what it means to take responsibility—and to stay committed. As a board member of 7Türme+, she aims to help preserve Lübeck’s churches as living witnesses to the city’s history.

"These buildings are not only impressive—they are our history and our future. I want to be able to say: We achieved something together."

Dr. Jan-Dirk Verwey

For Dr. Jan-Dirk Verwey, preserving historic architecture is more than a technical challenge—it’s a matter of principle.
The former Managing Director of Lübeck’s municipal waste services and current interim manager and senior advisor brings extensive experience in infrastructure, sustainability, and public services—as well as a deep passion for Lübeck’s Old Town, where he has lived for around 20 years.

Since 2016, the trained mining engineer has volunteered on the parish council of St. Jakobi in Lübeck, and since 2015, he has been involved in the association dedicated to preserving the church’s organs, artworks, and historic fabric. He sees the 7Türme+ Foundation as a bridge between civic engagement and cultural heritage.

"Our goal is to inspire people who share this passion—because without long-term support, preservation remains just a good intention."
