Seven Wishes for the Seven Towers

Dear founders, donors, supporters and friends of the 7Türme+ Foundation,

We look back on the first six months of the new 7Türme+ Foundation, which were marked by groundwork. With a small team by our side and your fantastic support, the Foundation has got off to a successful start.

We now look forward to 2026 with great anticipation and hope that the following seven wishes for the Foundation will come true.

  • The young Foundation should continue to grow. In 2026, we look forward to welcoming many new donors who are passionate about supporting the long-term preservation of the Seven Towers for future generations. We will create opportunities to achieve this.
  • We are eagerly awaiting the approval and release of federal funding, and with it the official start of construction on the two major projects: the renovation of the interior shell of St. Mary’s Church and the renovation of the South Tower of Lübeck Cathedral. After years of intensive preparation, the funds raised so far can then be put to their intended use.
  • We hope to attract further dynamic entrepreneurs and institutions who will actively and consistently stand by us as partners and supporters through successful joint initiatives.
  • We look forward to meeting many of you and engaging in lively discussions with our supporters and friends about the Foundation’s upcoming projects throughout the year, for example at the Hanseatic Culture Festival in June 2026.
  • Our team is also set to grow in 2026. We hope this will enable us to implement our many ideas and projects even more effectively.
  • And, of course, we hope to continue to have many donors who support the individual construction projects and the Foundation through one-off donations, regular donations or donations to mark special occasions (e.g. birthdays, anniversaries, etc.).
  • Finally, as early as 2026, we are already looking ahead to 2027. Together with all stakeholders, we hope to make targeted preparations for the upcoming major anniversary celebrations in the city (40 years as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 800 years of St. Aegidien, St. Jakobi and St. Petri).

We look forward to 2026 with excitement, energy and confidence. Thank you very much for your support and trust.

Focus on building maintenance

The pilot scheme for the new donation kiosks focuses primarily on the maintenance of the five churches. At the same time, tests are being carried out to see how the kiosks can be used for specific projects and temporary campaigns – such as the current renovation of the spire at St Jakobi. “The systems can be controlled via an app, meaning the user interface can be adapted quickly and flexibly,” explains the foundation’s chairman. Donations can be made using all standard digital payment methods. Anyone who wishes to do so can then leave their contact details and receive updates on the progress of the restoration work.

An invaluable contribution

The current focus is on the restoration of the cathedral towers, the interior of St Mary’s Church and the restoration of the spire at St Jakobi. “It’s wonderful that the 7Türme+ Foundation exists and that so many people are getting involved with ideas for the towers. The parishes couldn’t bear the costs on their own. It’s reassuring to know that the foundation brings together resources, donations and commitment,” says Cathedral Pastor Margrit Wegner. Robert Pfeifer, pastor at St Mary’s, adds: “The 7Türme+ Foundation makes an invaluable contribution to the preservation of our city centre churches. It helps us to safeguard the physical structure of the buildings and highlight their value to the city’s community. We are very grateful for this reliable support. Anyone can easily contribute to this important cause via the donation terminals.”
